Elephant Preschool

Oh my littl sponge---she loves learning and going through a structured work book together has been very good for both of us! She asks daily to do preschool and I do let her pick which page she wants to do that day---In fact yesterday we did preschool twice---I treat it like a class and when we started months ago---I laid out the ground rules (knowing very well she would have IDEAS of her own) Our number one goal is to LISTEN to DIRECTIONS!! Which has been a challenge at the beginning and now she states I am quiet and listening--ha!! Another goal I had was to go SLOW AND COLOR NICELY!!! (this to has improved greatly instead of scribbling) She calls me teacher when she has a question and when I slip and call her Gretchie she says I AM THE STUDENT!! That rule stuck great!!! Wish it would have when I taught first graders!!! We have worked on a variety of skills from coloring ten seals to matching numbers to pictures and letters to pictures--shapes colors and writing letters and numbers--although I feel this latter skill of writing numbers and letters still needs to be practiced!!! I am amazed and yes proud to say she recognizes more than half the letters when given them randomly in the alphabet -----she can write a T and O and E we are still working on G!! Yesterday I took the crayons and made letters --she had so much fun---The second time we did preschool yesterday I gave her a Christmas gift I had held back and it
I started on E words but----all she wanted was a pic of a big elephent and then she tried to color one--and got frustrated! Another rule is Practice makes was a folder and notebook with an elephant on it!! We are using the blank white paper in the notebook as PRACTICE for letters---We made a list of G words and she colored Gretchie and Gracie while we thought up words----(that was her idea to color that) we added green grass under the people and then she put daddy in there tooo--teehe!
Perfect but she always says GOOD!! She says the pledge of allegiance absoutely cute and pretty right on!!! ALthough reciting it after prayers at night was a slight problem----ha! I have to add right here that her Awana Cubbie verses are always repeated daily and since we have not had Cubbies for the holidays she knows two verses this week----now I was talking to Lee on the phone 7 pm tonight and she was sooo tired--I look and she is lying under the dining room table --I say G are you asleep---NO I AM JUST SAYING MY CUBBIE VERSE TO MYSELF!!! --ahhh--Makes a mommy sooo proud and so I sat down on the floor and said tell mommy and daddy(on cell phone) your verse MORNING EVENING AND NOON I CRY OUT!! It was perfect and I swear she was ignoring me all week!

She says to daddy on the phone (never has a lack of words or thoughts) Mommy and you are so proud of me and MS. Maggie will be proud of me toooooo!!! I gobbled her up and hugged and kissed that sweetness! Today I found a bag of peanuts from her birthday that we used as rewards!! anything to keep it fun uh!!! Ok ---enough rambling but I have been a bit sore and frustrated this week with still feeling this way and trying to stay positive about selling our house---and the first time in 9 weeks Lee has had to be gone all four nights and work a full 5 day week !!! Thankful he has a great job and in this economy thats something to be grateful for---This post turned out very long and I am so running out of kb or space on blogger.

Princess watching the large screen at Big Lots----

Such a little lady----We were at the dollar store Saturdayand bought a tube of lemonade lipgloss---she calls it lip glass and yes eats more of it than it goes on her lips!!!! Oh the joys of childhood!!! Hope its non toxic---when I don't catch her eating it! This tube was special it had princesses on it and purple jewel in the lid--she immediately started usig it as a microphone and singing the twelve days of Christmas by the way----she knows the whole song---a little help on the higher numbers after Lee and I had to teach ourselves the right words---ha ah!! Now wants the whole family to sing it altogether!!! (so sweet)

On Sunday we had a new dress mommy found for a quarter at Thanksgiving in Spokane--she thought it was a twirling kind and twirled around and around!!! It was cotton and did not twirl but she thought it did---

We went o Big Lots on Saturday and guess what was on the flat screen tv??? WALL-E the movie we had bought Friday night for family movie night and popcorn!!! I took a photo of her sitting at BigLots--like she had NEVER seen the movie and we she had watched it twice in less the 24 hours!!!

Since I am the worst person to ask which photo did you take in 2008--which is the best?? HA-Since I take pictures daily and my folder on my computer for 2008 FAVORITES has about 400 or more pic. I did go through it and could not decide --I decided to go back to a Chrstmas photo taken a couple days before Christmas this year when we went to the MALL--(I HAD NOT POSTED THIS ONE YET) now I had to capitalize the word MALL--when we go to TriCities we go shopping but nevr to the mall---Obviously by the comments we got from our three year old--

I know a whole year not in a mall--good or bad?? You decide---Exposed our daughter to something she did not remember! teeeheee--

We had a fun afternoon and went to Red Robin for dinner--came home!!!

Friday Night Movies!!!

I still am sorting through Christmas morning and day photos---I should not take so many then I would not have this problem---but then its so fun to REMEMBER by photos!! We had a fun Friday night Family night--Lee and I woke up Friday Jan. 2 at 5 am-- IT WAS RAINING! He left at 6 am and drove two hours to Yakima (work) Gretchie woke up at 7 ish and he called at 8:30 --said the roads went from rain to ICE!! Whew-thank goodness he made it safely!!! Gretchen decided when I laid her clothes out at 9 ish she would put another pair of footie jammies on----I had errands to run but was sore and she started playing by herself sooo cute--So I jumped in the shower and put away clothes --we watched NEMO had lunch and nap!! NOT BAD FOR A FRIDAY UH! Well Gretchie slept until 3;45 2 hours and 15 min) So I had to get her dressed and put her in the van to go to the bank and WalMart for prescription. We had to wait in line at the pharmacy a good 15 min----bad timing and WMart was crazy with people!! We decided to suprise Dad with the movie WALL-E--so not me to be that random to buy stuff but we needed some FUN!!! Well a 3year old and WAITING until he came home ------we got home at 5:45 pm I made her dinner took her upstairs --(divert her) I put her jammies on--I jumped in the shower as she read books on our bed---we spread a blanket on the floor --called Amma------It was still only 6:40 pm --so I we made popcorn I did start the movie at 6:5o we watched the previews and watched 6 min of the beginning and GUESS WHO CAME HOME!!! He immediately said REWIND IT!!! HA---Lee was in bed at 9 asleep at 9:10 would have been faster but when I went downstairs to get a sippie she decided to go to bed with daddy!! I cam back up and she says MOM you forgot to get daddy a sippie!!! Put her to bed and then went to bed myself by 10!! Woke up today first thing she says LETS WATCH WALL-E!!!! So thats what we are doing at 7 am!! It was raining at 7---at 7:10 it was snowing (covered everything white) and stopped as fast as it came!!

Oh these photos were taken on New Years Day---about 8:30 pm----I have to explain that Gretchie had been playing with these two matchbox cars for hours--with daddy and then mommy then by herself and then with daddy a second time!! I They were daddys cars in his stocking. f I had known $2.00 matchbox cars would have been sooooo fun!! Well -----I gave her a warning that five minutes we would park the cars and go to bed--she replies NOT QUITE YET?? Guess what the phone rings...I reply oh no Gretchie its the bedtime police---she ran and hid in the landing! It was Amma--she of course was so excited about her two cars that she had to have Amma watch---(she thinks people can see her in the phone) (very considerate and always has to SHOW others) It actually is very cute and when she figures out they can't really see her---Notice how she sets the telephone up so Amma can SEE her race the cars between the sippies!!! Then notice how I got a second phone and she put both of the phones so Amma can see better!! Oh the imagination of that girl all the time saying AMMA CAN YOU SEE GOOD!! AND YES---my mom was yelling back to her Good Job Gretchie!! OK--not quite the bedtime police but oh how was I to put her to bed after twenty minutes of this game!!! She did super and turned over and went to sleep after 10 min she says I LOVE MY DADDY! ** LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY!!! ***All in all--the day was slow and long and I was very sore from my fall!! I took the tree down, laid on the couch, Lee went shopping and Alison called while we were eating dinner---We had tacos and talked to Nana and Janny too--can't get slower than that for a day------Lee came home at 8 pm New Years Eve from Yakima and left again today (FRI) to drive 2 hours to work and home again tonight 2 hours ! Jut my added little note--WE NEED OUR HOUSE SOLD!!! Enjoy the photos ---of Gretchie and Amma (via telephone) playing!!
