I should not brag..to much! She went to bed last night without a peep ( no yelling crying and sreaming or lying there talking or singing to her stuffed bear) for hours) and did not wander into our room at her usual 1-2 am trot! Just to trot back to bed. It has been a long 2 months off and on getting her to bed at night! Before she turned 23 months--she was an excellent sleeper!! I had no complaints!! The last three nights have been good "going" to bed but she woke up the last three nights around 2 am--
(Th Fri Sat) crying and would NOT GO BACK TO BED---clung on to me or the door frame---would not rock in the rockingchair. Last Thursday night was the worst she was awake from 12:30 to 4 am!!! Wired on what I have no clue......I did give her Infant Tylenol and teething medicine at 12:30! I dont think it would have the revervse effect on her!! I had stayed up that night playing on this website soooooo mommy did not go to sleep until 4 am and not in bed on the couch!! Believe me that is not long enough to sleep. Her molars have broken through in back according to daddy sooo that probably was the reason for the bad night---So Friday naptime she tried every trick and laid in bed for two hours talking and then it turned to screaming and jumping (ok-- by this time I was mad and kept lying her down saying naptime giving her a kiss and walking out) I then stood outside her door I hear a CLUNK!! Yep she had held on to the rail and flipped her wholeself out was lying on the floor!! Thank goodness I was just outside her door--she cried but was very embarrased ( put her chin in her chest) . She did not hurt herself. SHE KNEW THAT MOMMY HAD JUST TOLD HER NO JUMPING!!! It was so appropriate because she had on a shirt with 5 monkeys-that said daddy's little monkey. After nap she would not talk about it and I used her shirt and the five little monkey shirt as an example!!! She then was not going down for a nap. So I did not force the nap issue today.... so NO NAP and she was sooo good and not cranky at all. Friday night she woke up every two hours---and went back to bed each time but 4 am refused to go back to her bed! She would not rock! She slithered out of my lap from the rocking chair and wanted to sleep on the livingroom floor---I gave her a couch pillow and blanket and fell asleep myself on the couch! (OK--you are thinking what a mom ...........I say whatever worked at that point)!
To fully explain this entry I need to rewind until August. I bought Gretchen a beautiful 5 piece white bedroom set off Craiglist! The idea was to get it for her birthday in October when she turned two!! I was sooo excited when I found what I wanted and the price was great!! We already had the twin bed!! Gretchen and mommy drove to Spokane (3 hours) to pick it up--she was excited and all the way home my bed my bed---she is talking so much better than August! We were gone out of town 7 times from the end of July to mid September which threw her whole sleeping schedule OFF!!! So one night in September she had refused to go in the CRIB so I said tonight is the night for a big girl bed!!!! We had already bought cute green and white stripe sheets with flamingos --I had ordered a bright pink blanket and did not have a quilt yet! The first night we also heard a chirping sound coming through the monitor at midnight---it was the battery in the smoke alarm but we have vaulted ceiling upstairs so we had to take a ladder in her room with a flashlight----believe me we were both walking on pins and needles as Lee climbed up the ladder to disassemble the smoke dector and I held the flashlight and my breath not to wake up the sleeping angel!!
"G" was soooo excited and slept great the first two nights until we were gone another week in Seattle! Poor child---or poor parents whatever way you look at it--she then fought bedtime every inch of the way from talking and singing to her bear to yelling I have to go potty! The little smartie pants decided to pottytrain herself at 9 to 9:30 every night!!! AND she was right 100 percent of the time!!! What do I say?? Pottytrain the girl or was it an excuse not to go to bed??? ASK AN EXPERT I STILL HAVE NO CLUE ON THAT SITUATION!!!So then she was so excited about going potty and getting a sticka and putting her down was harder! That lasted a good 10--12 nights!! We then had a good streak of going to bed by herself . Until she started climbing out when I put her down at 8 pm! Nap became a 2 hour problem --until she started asking to take a NAP!! Then she started coming into our room at 2 am to trot right back to bed! From one extreme to the next--I just shake my head! Two weeks ago I finally saw the time 8:30 pm on our downstairs clock in over a month! I had to sit my post in the hallway as the BEDTIME POLICE!!! I did read 5 books in those three weeks while waiting for her to go to sleep--ha!!! We did find her a couple nights sleeping on the floor next to my bed also...we never heard her come in!!! We bought her a new quilt for her birthday and she was so excited she smells the flowers on the quilt daily!! I had a baby that went to bed EXCELLENT up until she turned 23 months---oh watch out!!
